Students at 王中王精准六肖鈥檚 Bracknell and Wokingham College are celebrating today after collecting their GCSE exam results.
96.7% of students taking full-time GCSE programmes or standalone maths and English GCSEs at Church Road Campus achieved a pass in this year鈥檚 exams.
- 97.5% of students sitting their GCSE English passed
- 96% of students sitting their GCSE maths passed.
Many of the college鈥檚 GCSE students are learners who resit maths, English or both, to continue in education or progress their career.
This includes mature students who need these GCSEs to progress in the workplace, learners who may have missed the chance to go to university and want to study at degree level, alongside part-time students who have studied GCSEs at evening classes.
Hannah O鈥橬eill, Group Director of Academic Studies Faculty at 王中王精准六肖, said: 鈥淚t takes great commitment to succeed in GCSE exams, from both learners and teachers. I would like to congratulate all learners on their achievements and wish them the best of luck in their subsequent endeavours. I also extend my thanks to our wonderful teachers and support staff, who work tirelessly to inspire and support every individual, with our Learning Philosophy consistently at the forefront of their practice.
鈥淚t is worth noting that our GCSE learners come to us for a multitude of reasons, but all display great courage in doing so. Whether they are adult learners returning to education to boost their confidence, skills or employment opportunities, or young people hoping to improve on what they achieved at school so they can reach their goals, every individual student deserves recognition for their commitment to learning. It is a pleasure for us to be a part of their journeys.鈥
Ihor Zaplitnyi, 16, from Bracknell, is one of the top performers. He achieved a Grade 7 in GCSE Maths and a Grade 5 in GCSE English alongside his Level 2 Business course this year, for which he achieved a distinction.
Ihor said: “I was worried about English. I鈥檓 happy that I got a 5 for English as it鈥檚 not my first language. I was hoping for a 7 for Maths and I got a 7 so I鈥檓 happy. I was worried that I would get a 6, so a 7 is great!
鈥淚 came to Bracknell and Wokingham College as I came over from Ukraine last year. I didn鈥檛 do GCSEs in Ukraine, and it was my first year studying in the UK, so I needed GCSEs to go on with my studies.
鈥淚 like college. I like that in college you鈥檙e more independent and rely on yourself. I prefer college to school.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a different education system in Ukraine, as we study more subjects, like 18. I finished 11 years of school in Ukraine.
鈥淎ll of my teachers gave me supports so I want to say thank you to them all as whenever I needed help, I asked and they helped me, so I appreciate it. Thanks to them.
鈥淚鈥檓 now going on to study the Business T Level at Bracknell and Wokingham College. I鈥檓 pretty confident about it as one of my friends has done it and I know the teacher.鈥
Khaled Al-Qudah, 19, from Shinfield a full-time GCSE humanities pathway student at Bracknell and Wokingham College, is celebrating his results, including Grade 6 in English Language and English Literature, and Grade 4 in Maths, Psychology and Sociology.
Khaled said: “I鈥檓 happy about my results. I鈥檓 shocked as I wasn鈥檛 expecting to pass as I thought that I was going to need to retake them all.
鈥淚 decided to do my GCSEs because I had just come back from living abroad in the Middle East and my qualifications weren鈥檛 recognised here. I did a 12-week scheme with The Prince鈥檚 Trust, and they recommended that I did my GCSEs. I got told that Bracknell and Wokingham College was a really good college, they鈥檙e really supportive. My friends came here, and they said that they got on well, so I thought it was a no brainer and as I work in Bracknell it was convenient for me.
鈥淚 enjoyed college a lot. The teachers were supportive. They helped me to relax a bit more.
鈥淭he teachers offered me one-to-one support. There was a period of time where getting to and from college was difficult for me due to personal circumstances. My tutor really supported me and was really understanding if I was late as I was taking public transport and lived so far away.
鈥淢y teachers were understanding that I鈥檇 lived abroad and hadn鈥檛 been in education for a long time, they understood that it would take me a bit of time to get back into the rhythm of it. They were a massive help.
鈥淢y results help me go on to do what I鈥檇 like to do in the future. I currently work as a part-time youth worker at The Wayz youth centre in Bracknell, where we work with young people aged 8-25, we provide spaces for them to learn new skills, socialise and provide opportunities for them. I鈥檓 currently doing a Level 2 Youthwork course with Berkshire Youth.
鈥淚鈥檓 striving towards studying Youthwork at Level 3 by the end of the year, and the plan is by next year doing a Level 4 Youthwork course. I鈥檓 hoping to become a full-time youth worker and get the necessary qualifications.
鈥淚 love working as a youth worker, it鈥檚 amazing. Having been on The Prince鈥檚 Trust scheme as a young person which helped me to build my confidence as I was quite shy before and helped me to build some skills. It made me realise that I want to do the same for someone else and help young people who haven鈥檛 been given opportunities to be able to express themselves, find themselves and learn new skills and be there for young people to look up to.鈥
Oluwanifemi Adekoya, 17, from Bracknell, a full-time GCSE Science pathway student at Bracknell and Wokingham College, is really pleased with an exceptional set of results, including Grades 5-5 in Combined Science, a Grade 5 in Maths and Statistics, and a Grade 4 in English.
Oluwanifemi said: “I was shocked when I saw my results, I didn鈥檛 know I was going to do so well.
鈥淚 wanted to study at a different school but because I came from Nigeria, I didn鈥檛 have the required things I needed so I needed to study GCSEs at Bracknell and Wokingham College.
鈥淚t was very nice to study here. The teachers are nice and the students are friendly too.
鈥淚t was so good that I wanted to come back here to study my A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and possibly Psychology.鈥
Yanina Kaltysheva, 38, from Bracknell, a part-time GCSE English Language student at Bracknell and Wokingham College, achieved a Grade 5.
Yanina said: 鈥淔or me it鈥檚 a good result as English is my second language which I鈥檝e been learning for two years, so it is good for me.
鈥淚 came over from Ukraine. I wanted to improve my English skills so that I can apply for an AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting course to continue my learning.
鈥淚t was interesting. I was excited about my course. Everything in the lessons was useful. I have good progression as my level of English became better. I can write a great story, and I became more professional in English.
鈥淭he teacher was nice and helpful. He always tried to help me if I had any questions, he tried to answer them. He organised a lot of exercises to practise English skills.
鈥淚 came to the UK due to the war in Ukraine, English was different that how we learn in Ukraine. I did ESOL first and then I progressed to GCSE English.鈥
鈥淣ext, I would like to apply for an AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting course at Bracknell and Wokingham College because I have higher education from Ukraine in finance and I would like to continue my career in finance.鈥
Cheri Ashby, Deputy Chief Executive of 王中王精准六肖, said: 鈥淎t 王中王精准六肖 we have thousands of students receiving their GCSE English and maths results which will open so many opportunities for further study, employment, or career progression.
鈥淢any of our students come to us each year often lacking in confidence and self-belief having not always achieved the grades they are capable of, and this is still particularly true of these learners who experienced massive disruption caused to their learning by the pandemic.
鈥淲hich is why I鈥檓 delighted to see that as a group we鈥檝e see 576 of our learners improve on their previous grade in English and 642 learners improve on their grade in maths across our group of colleges.
鈥淭his year we had more learners coming to us at the lower end of the grade boundaries, who were in need of a grade 4 to progress onto their next opportunity. Through our dedicated approach to teaching and learning, where students receive wrap-around support from staff who work with them individually, building their confidence, developing their knowledge and skills through our Learning Philosophy-based teaching. This is then supplemented with a range of online and AI-assisted technology. Our unique approach to learning enables our students to flourish and achieve the grades to which they aspire.
鈥淥n behalf of our Educational Leadership Team, I would like to offer our thanks and appreciation to all our committed teachers and college staff on today鈥檚 GCSE achievement and wish our students the best of luck in the next stage of their journey at 王中王精准六肖 or beyond.鈥
